This is TIKI KU: the warrior and symbol of strength and sunrise. This is another of the many types of wooden images of gods. With its pointed prop (stick), this type could be stuck in the ground or in the wall thatch to support the image in an upright position. The crest on the head is quite common, but is seldom found on other small images which do not have the "stick extension".
This beautiful piece was hand carved out of premium monkey pod wood - the wood is solid and super thick and heavy and it was hand rubbed and hand polished to give it a smooth patina.

Tiki Ku is mostly known as the Tiki of War, but Ku is so much more complex. He is the god of fishing, who built the first fishpond in Hana. He is also the god of husbandry and farming, represented by the 'o'o , the digging stick, which penetrates the earth and makes it fertile. He is the god of war and conflict, but also of resolution and healing.
These sculptures are beautiful pieces of art! Place them by your entrance to greet your guests and to protect your home with their powerful presence!
