This Tiki statue was carefully hand carved in Hawaii, and great attention has been paid to detail. It is sculpted out of solid wood and measures 20 inches tall.
The original carving is one of it's kind in the world and is now part of a priceless collection of the Bishop Museum, Londen. Today it is considered by experts to be the largest and finest of this class of portable image.
PROVENANCE: Rarotonga, Cook Islands
This Tiki features three carved human figures on its chest and additional carvings on both arms, as you can see from the picture, being the god of fertility...it is well "equiped". Lono was the god of fertility, bestowing offspring on mankind. He was said to come down in rain to make the crops grow. A favorite of all the major tiki Gods.
This tiki statue is perfect for indoor or outdoor use. It is a beautiful piece of Hawaiiana and a fine example of Oceanic Art. It would appeal to the serious tiki collector who is interested in Polynesian Culture.
A great gift idea with MUCH ALOHA!
