In 1940, Eugene Savage completed, nine 8'x 4' murals for the Matson Shipping Lines. They were not used until1 1948 - after the war - when nine-color lithographed menu covers based on these designs appeared on the company’s flagship LURLINE. Today, Savage’s art is regarded the finest that the period produced. This is a high quality Giclee art print, reproduced on 80 lbs Premium Linen Paper and measures 14"x28".
This menu cover, entitled "FESTIVAL OF THE SEA" portrays the spirit of Hawaii and the connection of it's people to the land, in vibrant color and spectacular detail. It is a nostalgia piece which would add interesting history and a warm aloha atmosphere to a hawaiian decorating theme. No collection of Hawaiiana would be complete without some of Savage's fine art work. Make them part of yours too!
